(106,886 posts)Nice day here, I may bag it all and eat out in the park.
That sounds divine. I have used your curried mayo tip on broccoli numerous times now.
So about a week ago I was driving and got this idea in my head: curried lime mayo over broccoli. Interesting, yes? I made it and tried it and it was great. So proud of myself. Then I thought, wonder if that is original?-- so I did a search and found out others have done curried lime broccoli mayo, among them a food blogger who had a more interesting touch than I (she even had the curry on the broccoli florets themselves).
Anyway, I try to be original, but it's hard when you live with someone who really is a food genius. I've come a long way, though.
So I don't know what we're having tonight. He'll come up with something interesting, I know. Last night he wasn't interested in my pork stir fry with broccoli, and he made up shortribs and a salad.
I bought him some truffles at Trader Joe's on the way home.

(28,476 posts)Defrosted stew meat's gotta be cooked, I have one giant parsnip left from the garden, and a about two cups of killer leftover garlic mashed potatoes that will make a heavenly topping.

(29,098 posts)A few weeks ago SO brought home a pork shoulder that he had the meat guy cut in half. I did the larger of the two in my usual Mojo rub and braised in Pace Picante. The other I marinated in Soy, Gojuchang, garlic, ginger, rice wine, a bit of sugar, Shin black ramen flavor packets and sesame oil. It was fabulous!
I took a bag of it out of the freezer last night and I'm thinking I will heat it under the broiler a bit to try to get a bit of crispy texture around the edges. Then the plan is to spread some Mexican Sour Cream mixed with some gojuchang on top of warm tortillas. I will add the meat, some finely shredded cabbage and some daikon quick pickle I threw in the fridge last night. Top with a little drizzle of hot sesame oil and maybe some chopped tomato sounds- good to me.
I am so excited to make this as I'm just expanding into cooking with Korean flavors. BTW: If you love hot and spicy and like to live a bit on the edge with the salt and fat....The Shin Ramen is fabulous. We get it in the cup at Costco but I go to the Asian Grocer and get both the Red and the Black. Totally addictive....Especially with an egg floating on top.
Amazon sells the Shin....but you can get it cheaper at the Asian Market.
