Tonight at Chez Miz t.: Garnelen mit spatzle.

Bought 20 lbs of about 18 count (per pound) of fresh Mobile Bay shrimp right off the boat from the shrimper at $4.00/lb., heads on.
WooHoo!
(Took us about 30 minutes for us to de-head the shrimp. That goes back in the bay to feed crabs and fish.)

Miz t. is sautéing shrimp with garlic in butter and olive oil.
Pour over spätzle, with some steamed broccoli.

We freeze the shrimp in batches of a dozen.
That's plenty for a meal for the two of us.

My favorite seafood is Maryland blue crab but shrimp is right up there and--in Texas--easier to come by. But that fresh...and that much...You're killing me

A few days ago, my husband brought home some gulf shrimp, I was busy that day, so put the shrimp in the freezer and plan on making New Orleans style barbecue shrimp on Sunday.

I usually melt butter in a shallow baking dish, add lots of finely chopped garlic, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice. Louisiana hot sauce and some Cajun seasoning and place the shrimp in the dish, stirring to coat. Then pop the dish in the oven for a short time until the shrimp is cooked.

Will serve with rice and probably some fresh squash and sliced ripe tomatoes. Have plenty of the butter sauce to spoon over the rice. I'm thinking a lemon melting moments ice box pie will be good to finish off the meal.
