Related: About this forumi am giving my dad the gift of salmon for jewmas this year
i'm going to make lox and smoked salmon with a stocking of everything bagels, cream cheese, capers, red onions and rye crackers.
i've been in a pretty terrible funk lately, but today is the drop-dead deadline to get it started and the fire has been lit under my ass. i just really wish it didn't require a trip to whole foods on a saturday.

(24,146 posts)and i have that jewish mother part of me that loves to feed people.
I brought latkes (Trader Joe's frozen) to NJ last week for grandson's 2d birthday celebration!
sister and i are too lazy to do latkes on jewmas, so it's going to be potato kuegel and brisket.

(130,975 posts)so NO PROB! I agree, they're a pain to do 'fresh,' and as haven't been WITH family for years at Hanukkah, I've almost forgotten. Brisket, now THAT's a different thing! WILL do it some time this winter, I promise!

(16,296 posts)But it wrecks hell out of my gout. What a creation - a good bagel, Philadelphia cream cheese, brine soaked capers, a slice of Vadalia sweet onion ( red is OK) and a bottle of cream soda. I'm drooling just thinking of it.

(14,733 posts)I'm very close to the first anniversary of my discovery of just how godawful the condition is. I had half my foot soaking in ice-water for two days before I managed to get in to see anyone for it, that was the only way I could numb the pain. I've been pretty good, but the toe has twinged a number of times, and every time it does, I go meatless for a bit and pop some precautionary indomethacin and allopurinol. So far, knock on wood, no major relapse attacks.
