Related: About this forumChef's Catalog is going out of business.
Chef's CatalogI don't know what all is left, but I managed to get some good bargains on the few things I needed to replace. I know their prices were usually high, so maybe with the discounts they'll be more affordable

(36,827 posts)1. Some of the items are still more expensive than you can find elsewhere
However, I did snag a wafflemaker I have been wanting for some time at $50 less than the cheapest I had found.

If their prices had been more in this range in the first place they probably wouldn't be going out of business.

I did notice when I ordered on Monday that there were still items not on sale. I didn't understand their reasoning on that, unless they were trying to hold those back until later in the sale for discounting. Seems like an odd tactic when you're liquidating everything.

(34,137 posts)5. Some manufacturers/distributors will take back stock
So it might be to their advantage to not discount those items and to be prepared to return them for credit on debts. When we closed our shop we shipped some things to the manufacturers. The only things that were deeply discounted were the ones we couldn't return.

Thanks for the explanation
