What's for Dinner, Wed., Jan. 20, 2016

I'm having Trader Joe Chinese dumplings with hoisin sauce.

Later on, a salad with warm goat cheese. It's an Ina Garten recipe, and I've made it before but not for a long time.

My vegetable beef soup turned out fabulous. While it's the perfect thing for the upcoming storm, I think I'm going to give most of it to a good friend who's going through a rough couple of days. So now I'll be looking for another soup recipe! Chicken, I think.

Made with chicken breasts, onion and green bell pepper marinated in a mixture of Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, lime juice and finely chopped garlic. Served with guacamole, chopped tomatoes and sour cream. Refried beans on the side. Corn and flour tortillas. I made a white sheet cake with coconut frosting yesterday and we had a slice for desert today.

It was busier than hell, and it will be worse the day before the storm.

Since I got back late, we had frozen chicken pot pies, but also my left over broccoli and cheese soup, which is very good and very easy to make, especially if you have a immersion blender.

You cannot cook as you would like everyday, but leftovers can meet you 1/2 way.
