Picked up some nice "grinder" rolls and some sharp provolone today. This should finish the meatballs+sauce I had in the freezer.

Edit: forgot to mention - we now have an Aldi's, and it is right across from Trader Joe's. (Owned by the same company. Now THAT is funny.) Aldi's has basic stuff for cheap, so maybe the other stores might see them as a threat and lower their prices a bit. Vons and Albertsons have gone off the scale in pricing, ever since Ralph's closed their stores in my area. We needed another grocery to keep the others in check!

a regular basis priced so low that I often go overboard. It is mostly in the produce and meat departments. They have organic bananas for $ .68 lb., 4 lbs. of navel oranges for $1.99, multicolored peppers (3-pack) for $2.19 (often lower.) As for protein, their chicken is clean, well-trimmed. Price is much better than Kroger, esp. on sale. Their butter and cheese are real bargains. I don't use the majority of their products, like crackers, snacks, breads, etc.

Check out their website and start getting their weekly ads. The ads are also delivered in the newspaper. They sell a lot of consumer junk at cheap prices, similar to the $$store.

Bought my staple veggies there today (onions, celery, carrots, etc). And I too bought the 3-pack of multi-colored peppers for the same price. I didn't buy any meats yet, but did the cursory scan of that area and did the mental comparison of prices. Chix legs were certainly cheap (I didn't need any yet).

Already bookmarked the weekly ad on their website. The store is so new, they haven't put out a paper copy in the local Wednesday grocery mail dump yet.

I almost bought what looked like Sicilian-style bread (It was called "Italian", but I know the difference). Maybe next week I'll take the chance...
