and not familiar with curry 'leaves.' Curry powder from grocery store is a combination of lots of stuff: coriander, fenugreek, turmeric, cumin, black pepper, bay leaves, celery seed, nutmeg, cloves, onion, red pepper, and ginger. I like McCormick's.

I've never seen curry leaves anywhere. A couple of the ones who posted comments apparently could find them in Indian grocery stores which are sadly lacking in my community. Maybe I will try the recipe using the spices I have.

Now that you mention it, I think I'll grow it again this year. Will have to research to find the plant, though.

I have a bag of curry leaves in my frig right now, as the RG left me some. I want to preserve them in oil or something, since they're so hard to find.

but smelled just like curry. I remember doing a bit of research and determined that it wasn't a culinary herb. Am hopeful that curry leaves come from another kind of plant.

pictures have already been posted but be aware Curry Leaves is the english name , they may well not be called that in at least an Asian market so go by looks , and if all else fails here are substitutes
