(131,079 posts)daughter mentioned a good way to roast them so was hoping to do that this weekend. Unfortunately my neighbor, who grows them, had to run off to Earth/Science Day celebration, so I can only dream about when he actually brings me some!

(9,838 posts)at least 3# of homegrown asparagus during the growing season to cook for the family gathering on Sundays. My mother used to steam it, and it was very good, but we've become converts of oven roasting in olive oil with just a bit of salt and pepper. Very plain, exceptionally delicious.

(131,079 posts)I used to steam and serve with lemon, but have found roasting enhances the flavor. May roast alongside quartered new potatoes, which I'm par-boiling now.
