Yellow squash and zucchini starting to come in in the garden. I'm thinking some of that, and baked fish (with basil from the pot on my porch).

I've had the chicken marinating since last night and I can't wait.
I'm also going to make my first-ever Cosmo tonight -- I've never tried one, but since tart and tangy is my jam, I should love it. Fresh limes for both concoctions.
Added to say it was delicious! There was a huge amount, but the guy managed, somehow, to finish it off at lunch the day after. I also realized the the recipe, with the exception of the tortillas, was completely low-carb.
The Cosmo, was not good, though...too much lime juice. I'll be refining that for sure...more cran, less lime.

A mouth-numbing fiery noodle dish. Got the idea last night while watching Zimmern's Delicious Destinations (Szechuan), when I realized I had all the ingredients.

Going to keep the antacid around just in case.

the main attraction are the Sichuan peppercorns (Szechwan or Szechuan), which isn't even in the pepper family. I think there from a citrus plant in China. They have quality of numbing your mouth (and cheaper than coke! And legal!).

So, 2 T of the peppercorns, a cinnamon stick, 2 star anise, and a cup of veg oil makes the chili oil. Heat to 325F, remove from heat, stir in 1/4 cup of red chili flakes and let steep. This is enough oil to make two or three large bowls. This is the base for the rest of the recipe.

Here's the recipe I used:

I'll try another recipe later, as I like to play variations.

And I am grilling chili pork steaks with garlic and rosemary potatoes. I am going to use the leftover pork for stir fry tomorrow.
