(2,674 posts)I have never made it in a cast iron dish, I always use my old Pyrex baking dish. When you serve it, it is chocolate heaven when served still warm with a spoon of whipped cream on top.

(2,674 posts)Haven't made it in years, forgot how good it is. The old boy loved it, too. Our sweet for the week.
There is a similar recipe for a lemon sponge cake that makes the cake on top and the pudding in the bottom. It is simple too, but more steps, requires separating eggs and folding egg whites, It is an old Swedish recipe. It is very tasty, too. I have made the lemon more often than the chocolate version. Can probably find a recipe for the lemon cake on line.
