(7,633 posts)Strange that people would be googling how to.prepare it. If you are a southerner you grew up on the stuff and instinctly know how to cook it.

(17,444 posts)Here in Virginia, most folks know how to cook them. But the head shake was more over collard greens themselves. Doesn't everybody know they are for New Years?

(27,995 posts)But as a native Arizonan, I've never heard of anyone making them on Thanksgiving. And #2 for my state is Rice Krispie treats. lol Thanks for sharing.

(5,210 posts)Funeral Potatoes (WTF??)
And this one definitely fulfills MY fondest expectations for salad: Cookie Salad with Snicker Salad (as long as that means Snickers the candy bar) a close 2nd.

radical noodle
(8,003 posts)Similar to chicken, dressing, and gravy in a casserole. Make ahead, can reheat, and keeps well.

(58,785 posts)I google food and foodie forums so much? Thanks, Elleng. Just with the NYT had made the titles links. I've never heard of most. Dirt pudding's an exception. Just the name makes it a kid's party winner.

They just launched "Genius Recipes" in September, but they're obviously investing heavily in internet media and now all my googles for recipes brings up a Genius Kitchen offering at or near the top of the screen. Oh, and Spinach Maria was featured on their show.
Btw, although AllRecipes.com (Meredith Corp media conglomerate) is at the top of my screen for Frog-Eye Salad, (surprise!) Genius Recipes featured it and isn't very far down.
Expect this but on killer levels of steroids if net neutrality is eliminated. If eating trends of a nation can be so manipulated, just guess what can be done with thousands of other behaviors. Price soaring on a previously low-end fish? Maybe a new enthusiasm for it sprang up somehow...
