Salad, sauteed leeks, and meatloaf.
I asked the RG to make another one of those spicy salads like I wrote about yesterday, so he did. Except we couldn't find the turmeric, so it was slightly different this time. He dices the vegetables into tiny bits and then puts the salad dressing on it. Then he puts this over the lettuce leaves. Lets it marinade a bit before putting it over the lettuce so the vegetable juices become part of the dressing. Fantastic, and I do like a spicy salad!
He says he uses much less olive oil this way, so I would guess it saves a few calories this way.
The meatloaf was the best one he's ever made.
Today was gray and overcast with shades of autumn coming in, so a perfect meal for this time of year.
Later we'll have some of that delicious Crenshaw melon.

I'll make a gravy when the bird is done.
I haven't decided on a green yet. I'll probably use the broccoli.
Pirouette cookies for dessert.
My landlady(!) doesn't know I'm cooking so I might earn a point or two.

(5,678 posts)Cut up two small sweet potatoes in the pan and they browned nicely. Homemade apple pie ala mode. The pie was one of my best. Pretty sure it had a lot to do with the apples tho. So good right now.
