(12,254 posts)Smelling good right now. Either French rolls or a skillet of cornbread to go with it. Real easy and we can dip into it all weekend long. Hey, Lucinda!

(12,254 posts)Going to the theatre tomorrow to see "Four Dogs and a Bone" by John Patrick Shandley. The director of my reading (coming up April 25) is directing it at the Producers Club so it will give me a chance to see a little of what he's about. We do a closed reading next week and finalize casting. I thought it would be nice to come home from a matinee and reprise the beef stew.

(28,791 posts)I'm headed out to the garden so I need to be able to throw it in and not mess with it.
I'm not in the mood for boring baked chicken though. How can I jazz it up real quick?
Sides will be cheezy garlic mashed potatoes and steamed carrots/broccoli/or cauliflower
I need the cheezy potatoes for breadsticks for tomorrows dinner, so they are not substitutable (is that a word?)

(28,791 posts)skipped the potatoes, but that can be worked around tomorrow
baked the chicken on a bed of peppers and onions, stuffed a tired looking lemon and tangerine in the cavity.
mixed up a sweet and sour sauce from orange marmalade, pineapple juice, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, catsup, brown sugar and cornstarch. good thing I wrote it down, it was almost better than my fav takeout.
Cranberry couscous with cinnamon and garlic broccoli stir fry.
It was all pretty quick too

(35,731 posts)I'm going out with my friend. The place we're going to has wonderful outside dining and the weather here is very nice. Taking chardonnay.
We're dining late, so I think it will be quiet.

(1,706 posts)with the cabbage left over from St. Patrick's Day. The 15 and 18 year old boys ate it readily, though the younger said it was too buttery. I hadn't ever made it before, and it sounded like something vegetarian that the boys would eat. We'll see how their dad likes his heated up later when he gets home.

(31,170 posts)I'm not sure i've ever had anything tooo buttery.

(11,364 posts)I just made them all up, and they're baking in the oven. They smell pretty good too.
Lucinda
(31,170 posts)It's easy to change them up, and I like the fact that they last for a couple of meals.

(11,364 posts)I make them by the dozen.

(32,093 posts)I either have a cold or am reacting to the abnormally high pollen levels here, so my head is stuffed up. I can't really taste anything and I didn't feel like cooking, so I figured I might as well eat something that doesn't really taste all that great.

(31,170 posts)Maybe the change of weather thats been predicted for the next few days will make us both feel better.

(45,850 posts)I became a believer in curry pastes over curry powders a good choice to start with would be Thai Kitchen they're available in most grocery stores and are quite mild not too hot, I'm lucky enough to have a number of Asian grocery stores nearby so get mine there I use Maesri brand because they have several varieties but none contain shrimp paste (I'm violently allergic to shrimp ) however some of those are quite hot the one I used karee is mild and so is masaman, however I found Panang to be too hot for my family so you have to experiment a bit

(9,791 posts)I served it over linguine fini. It was very warm here today so I wanted to make something quick and easy. It worked out perfectly.

(31,170 posts)I've developed a sensitivity to shellfish and have to avoid it all now. Shrimp Scampi was always a favorite.

(9,791 posts)I know two or three people who are also allergic to shellfish. My mother developed a serious sensitivity to fish of any kind when she was in her 70s. It took a while to figure out what was making her face and tongue swell and fish was the common denominator. She was not at all happy to learn that because she truly loved fish.
