Related: About this forumOK, someone tell me what's up with Hass Avocados.
They went from $.99 to $1.99. They are ripening on stands as the price is daunting.
Is it because of the Trump Tariffs?

Have you tried Aldis?

(22,143 posts)I suspect perhaps the tariffs (or threats of) are perhaps stifling the market. I also thought a lots of these were grown in TX, CA, and FL...

(46,130 posts)I must have visited/sought out at least eight different stores and some supermarkets.
All are selling Hass avocados for $1.99. I was hoping it was price-gouging at one or two, but I'm telling you, it's all over up here.

(9,833 posts)at least $1.00 at Aldi and $1.59 at Kroger. And I haven't seen those alligator pears from Florida for several seasons. I used to get them at Ingles Markets in NC, but have not seen them lately.

(20,252 posts)Really screwing the consumer for his own vanity.
I just paid 2/$4 the other day. Smaller ones. Many of the ones I tried were mush. It's shameful.

(10,137 posts)I usually have enough for me, the accursed squirrels, and the neighbors. I got two or three usable ones this year - the rest were tiny, and never ripened.

(4,743 posts)I work in dining; we're looking at $100+ for a case of 48, and they're quite small. It's not the worst I've seen but it's not good, either.
