they wanted to get rid of it...cut it into steak, cooked two for hubs and me in the cast iron pan...delicious. We served baked potatoes and a big salad with it...and for dessert lemon cake with lemon glaze...gluten free cake made with Greek yogurt instead of oil. It turned out well. Had a latte with my dessert. I froze the rest of the steaks...

Our supermarket will have specials during the mid-week and often the deals will blow our minds! Filet mignons for $4.99/lb.! Whole chickens for $0.99/lb.! We're in the Catskill mountains and the store has better seafood than we find in NYC!

Why fight it? Enjoy and eat well!

TJ made up some chicken with onion, bell pepper, broccoli and rice. It had a sauce that I'd guess was sweet and sour.

======

FLFC ate some of the chicken prepared without the sauce and after a few pieces decided it was poison and complained until I fed him pieces of dog food one at a time like they were treats. Spoiled rotten!

We're hunkered down in our mountain house for a few weeks and my son is spending a several days with us.

It was warm enough to pull out the grill so I made jalapeño cheese burgers serve on toasted Kaiser rolls. These were served with maple-flavored baked beans and a green salad with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, carrots, black olives and croutons topped with an avocado-based dressing.

The Landlady(!) baked a fruit pie yesterday so we finished that for dessert.

I hope everyone is safe and healthy!
