Costco has 60w equivalent and 100w equivalent LEDs for 4.99 and 5.99

That's a huge savings. These bulbs were in the 20 buck range and are still shown there on Costco's web site.

We replaced a bunch in the various areas of our Main Room. We kept incandescent in the lamps, but all the hanging fixtures were changed.

The light is a little whiter in the 100w floods, but they're over work areas so it isn't at all unpleasant. We put the 60w equivalents in the seating and eating areas. They say they're color balanced to warmer, like incandescents. None of the bulbs generate any heat and they use like 13w or something. The brand is Feit Electric, and of course they're made in China.

The bulb prices were being sponsored by our electric utility. Apparently this is common and I am told the same or a similar deal is available in many other Costcos in other areas, but it isn't chain wide.

We were pleasantly surprised that our dimmers are all so new that we didn't have to change any of them to the type that work with LEDs. When I took the cover plates off to change them out I saw the adjuster levers and voila! They handled the new bulbs perfectly. I was able to take all the new dimmers back to Home Depot for a refund.

The last ones I got were mood lighting, at best. Oh, they're great in the lamp in the bedroom I leave on a timer so I don't trip over the cat on the way to bed, color's nice, but I couldn't see putting them anywhere else.

Even when they were $20, they were money savers over CFLs and especially over incandescents.

I'm not sure if other utilities are giving similar subsidies for LED bulb in other places, but I sure hope so!

Think I'll stop by HD and see what I can see ! Been using the 13 watt twisty's although been looking at LED's in a curious way !

I think I wondering about the heat those type bulbs might generate- and of course the cost.
