Asparagus crown search

Last edited Sun Feb 10, 2013, 06:50 PM - Edit history (1)

I am going to put in some asparagus this spring (May) and am seeking advice where to buy crowns. Our local nursery usually has some, but wondering if anyone could steer me to a decent online place? ETA, the local nursery is good enough to special order things if I find something they don't carry. I like to do that as it keeps some of the money local, sorry I wasn't clear.

I am in the Pacific NorthWet, if it matters (hence May planting).

Thank you.

Whenever I have a local, locally owned and operated business that I can trust, I give them my money. The reason I would go somewhere else would be if I cannot get what I want from them.

If they don't carry it, they sometimes can order things which I like to do. That way they get some money also as yes, we are all in this together.

from your part of the world. I have been growing my asparagus from seed lately but have also planted a lot of crowns. I have had a good experience whenever I have bought from Nichols (not a lot since I am in the northeast)

I haven't purchased crowns (they can't send them here) but I've had good luck with the quality of their live plants. They send detailed growing instructions too.

I will set out soon. So, don't know how they will do; but it is a start.
