http://www.irishexaminer.com/examviral/animal-life/it-took-the-internet-just-two-hours-to-save-these-hugging-rescue-dogs-344132.htmlWho could have imagined a dog hugging another dog like that?! So human! We had a tabby cat who seemed more like a Siamese, in that he seemed to want to be a human being. I'm sure he would have hugged us like that if it had occurred to him - and without the horrible stressful circumstances our poor wee friends above endured.

But no, like il Papa, I believe we could get a lot closer to Gospel Chrisitianity than we do. All secular ideologies are unstable due to our fallen nature.
I think in most non-Christian countries, even Communist regimes have been less corrupt and looked after the mass of their population better than their capitalist predecessors (capitalism = systematized greed); certainly, China and Cuba. In Russia, it was hijacked by Stalin, but in any case, it is no answer in a Christian or even post-Christian country. On the other had, it would be a fair stop-gap in South America, though the billionaires and their US sponsors try to destroy left-wing regimes there. Anyway, I think it's academic, as it looks to me as if we are in the end times, and God will impose a whole new world order - only it won't the one dreamed of by the Illuminati. Pope Francis' vision will prevail.
In a nutshell, for me, the antonym of Socialism is Antisocialsim, and so it proves. Even by historically indulging and schmoozing with the rich, the Church has betrayed them even more than the poor. I speak as Catholic, but it seems clear from the seemingly amicable symbiosis of the Lutheran church in the Scandinavian countries (who got their imperial nonsense out of their system in the Middle-Ages), that they have been less corrupted. Could you imagine reading that their Church had had close ties with the mafia? I was astonished to read two articles at different times reporting that Scandinavians, though largely agnostic, when not atheist, commonly choose to pay a church tax, so that they can have Church christenings, weddings and funerals. Anyway, whatever skullduggery some of the high-ups have got up to historically, I believe The Catholic church has always been at the forefront in terms of carrying out charitable work, indeed, founding hospitals in the Middle-Ages. And that counts for a lot.
I do have a lot of rebels in my family tree, going back as far as Lady Godiva. Heart of gold, that great-grandma of mine. Give you her last groat.
