Related: About this forumhelp we got a papitese about a month ago. He got neutered and microchip last week but has a lump
he has a little lump on the back of his neck. I am assuming it is where the chip was placed.
Should I be concerned?
Will the swelling go down?
I want to call the vet tomorrow or should I just take him?

(1,136 posts)1. I would call..
I think the chips are put more between the shoulder blades, at least that's where it was put on my years ago? Some shots are given in the scruff of the neck, but I would think any bump from that would have gone down by now.

Don't pay for an emergency visit. I have a large crew with microchips and none of them got lumps from the microchip. The chips are tiny. It's best to let the vet figure out what's going on. Good luck!

the lump may well be a reaction to it. Happens to my dogs all the time.
Of course, call the vet just in case
