NASHVILLE Theres a story my husband has been telling for nearly 15 years, since not long after United States forces invaded Iraq. In a news report, American soldiers were going door to door with bomb-sniffing dogs, trying to persuade the citizens of Baghdad to adopt a well-trained pet.......

(51,608 posts)I was devastated and took off work naturally. I even canceled Christmas that year. I was teaching first graders and when I returned to class I received tons of letters that the substitute let them write in my absence and gifts, etc. I still have them and every year I take them out and read them....so sweet! It has been 15 years and I am still getting over it and have a "new" 15 year old little girl and I am dreading losing her soon.

(32,005 posts)some article not long ago said researchers proved that animals are not capeable of feeling love as humans do. I really, really, disagree on that. If you have ever owned a dog that looks at you with that stare of just total all encompassing love you would disagree.
I know my boys love me by the way I'm greeted when I come home. And their dinnertime is not for a while so they're not just happy to see She Who Fills Our Bowls.
