since there blood to her hip was cut off. She is a long haired Chihuahua and they don't make fake body parts that tiny so the surgeon (who was a genius and helped my other dog 10 years earlier) reattached it with tendons, ligaments and thread after he cut the end off of the femur. I filled the tub with water every night and since she had to swim (short little legs) she doggie paddled for 30 min each night for a month and healed perfectly. She runs and jumps and you can't even tell anything is different unless I tell you that one leg is 1/4" shorter than the other. She is 15 1/2 and still runs and jumps and plays (not for more than 30 min at a time since she is a senior now). Water therapy is really fantastic.
