I just want to crawl into the middle and have them all snuggle around me.

My Dad died on Fri out of the blue (and I am a basket case) and all the hair on my own little girl is almost all rubbed off of her body since I have been hugging her so much. This is a "puppy pile" emergency and I need one ASAP!

***Edit:
Thank you DU family for the replies to this post. After hearing about the sudden news I collapsed and have been throwing up ever since...this is the worst thing that has happened to me since my first dog died in 2002 (I am still getting over that). After she died her dog spirit was in my home for a week (I heard, saw and felt stuff she did and it wasn't scary). The night my dad died I heard footsteps in the EMPTY apt upstairs. I even went and got another neighbor to check it out and no one was there. (it was 12:30 AM). I think it may have been my dad. I keep thinking, "Why did a really wonderful man, and a life long Dem, have to die?" and I told my sister, "Why couldn't it have been tRump?". Life sucks a lot! My sister's got two new adopted dogs and they are helping to cheer her up, she lost her 16 year old dog in Sept and now this loss. Where is my almost bald little dog...I need puppy kisses desperately.

That’s how my father died, too. I have an idea how you must be feeling.

Mine passed six years ago, and there are many days where I still want to crawl into a pile of puppies, and be comforted.

Take it one day at a time, sometimes one hour or a minute at a time. Be kind to your soul, and know that you have a huge family here that you can reach out to at any time.

I'm glad you have that little Chihuahua there with you.

My condolences on the passing of your dad. Thank God we have our critters to provide comfort. Mighty glad you have yours! Both my parents suffered a long slow lingering - and very painful - decline. Sometimes I wonder if a sudden departure would have been more merciful, all around - but for them, in particular.

Many hugs, my friend. You do not mourn alone. Certainly not if you share your heartbreak in a place like here. And especially with a “fur baby” to cuddle, as well.

It isn’t fair, is it? Glad you have your sister and your fur-family to help you through this terrible time.

and I think she is hanging around to help me through this (just turned 16). My sister's dog died in Sept and she just saved two new dogs and they are helping her to laugh once in a while. My mom has her their dog too, thank goodness. Our fur babies are great medicine.

And since they are a bonded pair, wil the rescue try to adopt them out together?

So yes, the rescue will try to adopt them out together. They are very confused and scared. I haven't been able to touch them at all, but I think they are discovering that inside life can be nice. We have no idea how much human interaction they had where they were.

And very very bonded to each other.
I do see their father from time to time, neighbor was able to trap momma, neutered and released. Couple of us have feeding stations and sleep spaces for cold times.

It doesn't go through the milk. But the blood tests don't show them until they are at least 6 months, and we put them on heartworm preventative before that.

But if heartworm preventative keeps them from developing, it's all good.
