To those who have a pet food subscription, please read this post.

I have a friend who just posted the following message on FB. She has about 20 middle-aged to old cats that rely on their monthly food delivery from a subscription--Chewy, I think. This is what she received from them. She said she has enough to last until tomorrow night. She will go try to find food at Tractor Supply today, hoping that they will have something.

"Things are a little backed up on our end with many pet parents ordering food and supplies. Rest assured, we're working hard to deliver your order #1234567 as soon as possible, while caring for the health and safety of our team members.
We expect most orders to be delivered within the next 4-6 days. You'll automatically receive a tracking link as soon as your order ships. Nothing to do on your part. We're taking care of it.
Thank you for understanding. We hope all our pet parents and their beloved pets stay safe."

Basically this translates to: "We went the route of quick, massive profits and didn't save back anything for our regular long time orders while we were catering to the panic buyers. So now those who counted on us can go out into the stores, risking exposure to the virus, in hopes of finding any old pet food so that their animals don't starve."

Just a heads up.

I retired 2 years ago and hate email after being buried in it for over 15 years so only check mine when I'm looking for a specific message. Guess this is one of those times, lol. I've got sufficient food for the fur babies including the feral ones for the next month, who knows what will happen after that?

I get a large bag of Purina One one month and a medium the next. This was medium bag month but I felt I should get more. I will still get a large bag next month if and when I find it. I got it from walmart.

There was none on the shelf but a nice young man went into the back and found the type I wanted and pulled it off the pallet for night crew to put out. I was very lucky.

I would have purchased cat litter also but the last two of the kind I get was wheeling away in someone's cart. I will get 2 instead of one next month.

I will make sure my cats have food before I make sure for myself.

I have used this service since they started. We had two large labs and two cats to feed.
They notify of the shipping date ahead of time so you can change the timing if needed. Once I needed to delay as shipment. They accidentally shipped the original and the change order. I called them to find out how to handle this and was told that my account would not be charged for the extra bags of dog food and asked if I would please donate the extra bags to a local pet rescue service, which I was more than happy to do.
Last year one of our dear labs died and I had to change my standing order to only one bag at a time. They called to let me know I may not be able to qualify for free shipping with the change. I explained why I would only need half my long standing order and they were very sad to hear of our loss. The next day we received a dozen roses with a very nice sympathy card.
If they had been more concerned about profits they would have held back and raised prices.

I've been using them as well for about 5 yrs.
But watch out for this.

You get an immediate email confirmation when your scheduled order is ready to be shipped.
Their policy is that you have 3 days to cancel or delay the shipment.
But twice they have shipped the next day in spite of my immediate response to delay.
This last time' at about 24hrs after my cancellation, I got a 'order is being shipped'. Called them and they said is was too late too cancel it. Told them I was within their 72hr policy as stated on their policy page. Their software does not accept the command. After I told them that I couldn't pay the bill this month they got the package back from Fed Ex.

They had some food in stock still.

I placed a large order w/Chewy and am still waiting to receive it.

I'm not a fan of Walmart but, if it comes down to it I will use them as well.

Same goes for Target.

bags, esp. of the more expensive types of pet food. That is good news. Kroger had some brands of dry cat food this morning, but there were large holes in their stock--not just pet food, but all over the store, esp. potatoes and onions.

9. I think Chewy staff has been hit really hard.

2 of my auto ship orders have been in limbo for several days. One shows everything in stock, but still in limbo. The other shows only 1 of 3 items IN stock, though the “we’re preparing your order” email showed it all in stock.

We’ll be okay, but 2 cats might not to happy about it. 🐱🐱

I’m glad they are letting their staff stay home and I hope they are all okay.

Edited to add: They usually phone AND email if something is out of stock. All I’ve gotten are the emails warning of delay.
