An extremely dedicated dog has continued to show its loyalty, keeping watch on its owner's grave six years after he passed away.
Capitan, a German shepherd, reportedly ran away from home after its owner, Miguel Guzman, died in 2006. A week later, the Guzman family found the dog sitting by his grave in central Argentina.
Miguel Guzman adopted Capitan in 2005 as a gift for his teenage son, Damian. And for the past six years, Capitan has continued to stand guard at Miguel's grave. The family says the dog rarely leaves the site.
"We searched for him, but he had vanished," widow Veronica Guzman told LaVoz.com. "We thought he must have got run over and died.
'The following Sunday we went to the cemetery, and Damian recognized his pet. Capitan came up to us, barking and wailing as if he were crying."

(13,485 posts)We had a dog that sat on the grave of our kids rabbit for 2 weeks and would pace back and forth. He didn't eat for probably 2 days after it died. They were very close.

(11,256 posts)She died very suddenly yesterday after a 1-2 day illness. Some kind of swelling in the brain. She was only 5 1/2. A perfect beautiful sweet soul. To think we were running around on the beach in Long Island on Sunday and now this. She had such an amazing personality. Our daughter really - pet is the wrong word.

(18,219 posts)I have lost several pets, but the one that was a sudden death was truly the hardest. May her memory comfort you.

(11,256 posts)...especially all who responded to my post. My wife and I are still broken up about this. Dexy was supposed to me my 3 month old son's guardian. My wife recently wondered how she was going to explain to our son when he is around 10 years old why Dexy had to leave - and then poof she is gone now. So sad. We have many wonderful pictures and a few videos. I will post some of these separately. She was an ambassador for pit bulls!

(67,799 posts)It is the thread pinned to the top of the group. It has gotten very large, what with all the pictures, but it is a special place, filled with love and memories.

(3,186 posts)I hope it comforts you to know that we can all relate on some level.
Your sweet girl knew you loved her. That is the important thing.
I know this may be hard, but try not to dwell too much on the manner of her passing. There was nothing you could have done. Instead, when you think of her, think of all the good times you had together in those 5 1/2 years. She was lucky to have you as her dad.

(1,995 posts)It is always hard to lose them. I still cry over losing mine. I can hardly read this thread because it makes me cry but
I do try to remember the love we had for them and how much unconditional love they gave us.

Not quite sure I could even rewatch that episode, despite knowing what's coming...

(769 posts)Watched it twice, I think- tore my heart out each time. I decided my Futurama collection didn't need to be that complete.
