Related: About this forumHer name was Reina and she was truly a Queen.
Today my beautiful Reina passed on. We got the lovely Reina when she was almost a year old. Some knucklehead abandoned her at an interstate rest stop in North Carolina and she was picked up by a kind traveler and made her way down to Florida where they gave her to my vet. That's where we found her and adopted her.
The past 15+ years have been an absolute joy. She always met me at the door when I got home from work so excited to see me, so eager to please. She was the best dog ever, so gentle and friendly. She's going to be cremated and then she'll be coming home in a couple of days.
This is Reina everybody, she would have loved you all.

nor speak of me with tears,

I loved you so --
'twas Heaven here with you.

(67,817 posts)Most of us can only hope for a 15 year run before crossing The Bridge.
The story you told is one of great fortune. She was lucky to have been found and brought to where she could find you. Both of you were lucky to be able spending so many years sharing the unconditional love that is the core of the bond between us and them.
Enjoy the sunshine, Reina. Good dog.

(18,219 posts)She was so lucky to have all those good people take care of her so that you could get her. And I know you know you were lucky too. That is a beautiful eulogy, and I am sure that she earned every word of it.
We can tell how much you loved her, and I hope that your pain is minimized by your memories. So sorry. It is never easy.
