http://www.catster.com/lifestyle/cat-names-nicknamesMy cats have real names, but I never use them -- instead, I make do with about ten nicknames apiece. How about you?
We usually name a new cat within the first few days of meeting him or her. The name could be based on a number of things, but mostly it's based on physical markings or initial disposition.
After spending a little more time with the new kitty, we usually start to bypass the name in favor of some catchy nicknames. Through the years, my three cats have each earned crazy collections of monikers, and now I rarely address them by their original names. Here are some of those names and nicknames:

I call him the Brat Cat. When he refuses to eat something that he was perfectly fine with a few days ago, I call him Prince Kidley.

(3,443 posts)2. I mostly use cutesy names
He came from the SPCA as Max though I also use Mr. Pretty Fluffy Wuffy Max and Mr. Fluffy Buns. He looks like Saffy in terms of fluff, but has a tabby pattern with white boots. He also shares the more than love for food. And of course there's Mr. Naughty Max when appropriate.

(18,219 posts)3. I use silly names for all pets I have ever had.
Things like booger and boogie bear and pumpkin and love bug and pooper and purrer.....not really names that replace the name, which I do use whenever I am calling them. But when I snuggle up with them, I get silly and mushy.
