My Z takes these photos when he walks her daily. Blue herons are all over here, with eagles, hawks, ravens, crows, etc. A barred owl pair lived out back for a while, and one landed on our railing. I got a pic of him. We call him Merlin. They show up now and again, and sometimes stay for a month or so, then move around the forest out back.

A peregrine falcon also landed on our deck railing one day, and a stripe shinned hawk pounced on a squirrel in the back yard last year. It's always a wildlife adventure here. When my first husband and I took our first ferry to Vashon in 1999, we saw a pod of orcas!
