I think my 5 year old cat has had a mild stroke or has some sort of brain tumor. She appears to be partially paralyzed on one side with some of her whiskers sitting flat against her face and her legs sometimes slipping out from under her. I don't think she can smell her food or it smells bad because she comes over like she's hungry, sniffs the food, looks around, then walks away. I got an appointment with the vet tomorrow to determine if he should refer her to a neurologist. I know I shouldn't have favorites, but, of my three cats, she's definitely the one I'd miss the most right now.
GOOD NEWS! She is MUCH better today and we cancelled the appointment. Her whiskers are out again, she is more stable (although not completely), and (most important) she's eating and drinking! I don't ever, in my life, think I've felt such joy to see my cat drinking water! I think the cortisol shot the vet gave her on Tuesday kicked in. I'm hoping this will be the last of it but will monitor her closely.
Thanks for all the good vibes!

(42,558 posts)We had a cat that had some sort of episode. He started walking weird, like he couldnt control one of his legs. And it happened at night, so we couldnt get to our vet right away. He had other health issues too, so we thought it might be the end, but he did improve and had quite a bit more time with us. I dont want to give you false hope, but hang in there until you have more info.

(86,612 posts)Might she have been poisoned somehow? Could she have gotten into or walked through then licked off, something? Almost sounds like a foreign substance thing too. You suggestions may be correct, though.

(6,917 posts)We just lost Krusty after 18 purrfect years. Your 5-year old is too young to be old. Peace and love. 💕

(1,276 posts)feed her if I can ask? Occasionally there are problems with foods. Especially now sadly in the last 3 months especially. Am on a group documenting issues.Sounds like maybe poisoning?
Have faith that perhaps she can be detoxed and recover. There are things to help with that. Natural and non-toxic things. I am hoping for her that she can recover and has that chance to.
Bless.

(312 posts)Praying for her recovery as well. Vets can do a lot with infusions now. Good luck and blessings!
