(Democratic) Gun control bills unveiled in Kentucky legislature

Rep. Mary Lou Marzian, D-Louisville, and Sen. Kathy Stein, D-Lexington, said they hope to at least receive a hearing on the controversial bills this year and ignite more debate on gun control in Kentucky, where lawmakers have traditionally opposed measures to regulate firearms.
“This is a piece of sensible, reasonable gun control legislation, and it’s a start,” Marzian said. “It’s not everything we wanted, but I think we need to come together with common ground.”
In addition to licensing and registration, the bill would allow local governments and Kentucky State Police to regulate firearms, ban guns on colleges and universities, increase regulation on gun storage and close a loophole for purchasing firearms at gun shows.
