ARKANSAS: Faculty Carry Signed into Law

http://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/assembly/2013/2013R/Pages/BillInformation.aspx?measureno=hb1243

http://www.arkleg.state.ar.us/assembly/2013/2013R/Acts/Act226.pdf

AN ACT TO ALLOW TRAINED AND LICENSED STAFF AND 11 FACULTY TO CARRY A CONCEALED HANDGUN ON A UNIVERSITY, 12 COLLEGE, OR COMMUNITY COLLEGE CAMPUS UNDER CERTAIN 13 CIRCUMSTANCES; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

The act authorizes the governing body of a college to allow faculty to be armed. It does not require them to do so. The college can outlaw guns on campus. The decision is left up to the college. All the act does is remove previous Arkansas state law that outlawed guns on campus by faculty. Students still can't carry.

Faculty optional yes, students no.

If a student lives off campus, then private ownership/possession should not be a problem.

Compromise is nice.
