5 "people" arrested in home invasion, murder

Five people were arrested early Tuesday after the shooting death of a man at his girlfriend's house, Tulsa police reported.
The victim, identified by police Tuesday as William Zachary, 66, was shot during an attempted home invasion robbery in the 13300 block of East 36th Street about 8:15 p.m. Monday.

Was cooperating with the "people" that violently invaded the home. Was shot anyway. All 5 need to be charged with murder.

When will the defenders of the downtrodden and disadvantaged be here to tell us how economic circumstances led them to to shoot a man in the face after he gave them his wallet?

"They are just after "stuff."

"Give them what they won't and they won't hurt you."

"It's uncivilized to use deadly force to defend property."

I am sure if he hadn't somehow escalated the situation those misbegotten scum would not have murdered him in cold blood.

I do not give a shit what their families or communities think, "people" who commit those kinds of crimes are vermin.

Unfortunately sometimes "three strikes" laws contribute to this sort of thing--if someone knows they're going away for the rest of their lives if they get caught, they've got lots of reason to dispose of the witnesses, even for a "simple" mugging, much less a home invasion.

can make your door virtually impossible to be kicked in. That would be a really good idea to do if a gun safe is visible from the outside.

Many products, just google what you need to secure

entry doors

sliding doors

windows-lots of self installed films. Here is just one

any of these product would have given the guy enough time to open his damn gun safe and been ready.

...none of those products would be effective other than maybe a very few seconds gained. Poor quality, mass produced door and window units installed by poorly skilled laborers means it takes a lot more than bolt-on parts and quick fixes. I've kicked doors hard enough to split the actual door itself at the hinges. Window film works on commercial applications with heavy frames but are worthless on the vast majority of residential windows.

5. All five CAN and SHOULD be charged with murder

It's called third-degree or felony murder: If someone dies in the course of your committing a felony (the home invasion, in this case), you've also committed a murder. Since the five acted in concert, they're each as guilty as if they pulled the trigger.

And please note that I wrote "someone dies" instead of "someone gets killed" -- it was not by accident. If the man had dropped dead of a heart attack, or fallen down some stairs and broken his neck, that would add up to five counts of felony murder, too.

For instance, if this guy had shot and killed one of the invaders, the other four would have been able to be held criminally liable for his death.

However you should not be naive enough to believe that the people who invade your home won't be prepared to defend themselves if you fire at them. And if there are more of them than there are of you, the results could be unfortunate anyway.

In my experience a lot of people think that being prepared to offer an armed response guarantees your safety/survival under any circumstances. All it does is even the odds a bit.

goblin upsets certain Canadians. In my opinion they are less than human, since they hunt in packs and go after the old and defencless, and thus goblin would be appropreate.
However since the Canadians object to it I will refrain from using the term goblin in the OP.
