Nicholas Mattiello - a liberal Democratic politician with an A+ rating from the NRA

For those of you that say that real Dems support more gun control, I would like you to meet the new speaker of the Rhode Island House. He supports unions, gay marriage, the ACA, medical marijuana, strong environmental laws - and is endorsed by the NRA with an A+ rating.

I have seen first hand how the NRA plays their games. A Missouri State Rep was running for State Senate. The rep had an "A+" NRA rating and had been endorsed by the NRA. A friend of his called and told him that he (the friend) had gotten a call from someone saying "Hello friend, like you I'm an NRA member, hunter and supporter of the 2nd Amendment and I'm supporting 'John Doe' for state senate." John Doe (not the real name) was the republican in the race. So the NRA donated money to the dem was calling NRA members in the senate district telling them they supported the republican. This isn't the only instance of them backdooring their "endorsed" democrat.

Debbie Halvorson (D) was my US Representative (IL) and was endorsed in all her elections by the NRA as well as the state rifle association and funded with $29,000 in the 2010 mid terms.

She ran against Adam Kinzinger (R) for the seat and the NRA and ISRA backed her through the whole thing, rallies, fund raisers at the ISRA range in Bonfield and phone calls on election day.

FWIW, an anonymous phone call from a guy saying he's an NRA member is not the same as the NRA calling or sending you an NRA postcard with their recommendation and rating.

And ... what does hunting have to do with the 2nd amendment anyway? The Fudds are only about 20% of gun owners anyway.

I'm just telling you how things went here in rural Missouri. There were numerous calls all with the same prepared script to members all over the area. This wasn't the only time it happened. We had similar issues in two other races that I can recall as well.

Who the NRA ILA (the political part, not the training and safety part) contributes to in every election is public record by law.

But feel free to base your beliefs on what a friend of a friend told you. Unless of course you've received some of these calls yourself.

But then why use a third party for your example?

from our party.

Perhaps that is one of the reasons the Republicans control the House today and are seen by many political experts as having a good chance of gaining control of the Senate.
