A group of gun violence survivors, religious leaders and mothers will meet Wednesday to mark multiple anniversaries of mass shootings in America.

The gathering, at the Seattle Center, will come four days after a pre-Passover assassination in which a white supremacist murdered three people outside two Jewish centers in Overland Park, Kan. None of his victims were Jewish.

A speaker on Wednesday will be Cheryl Stumbo, terribly wounded in the 2006 shootings at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle offices. Stumbo spent months recovering and underwent prolonged, painful surgeries.

She has become a tireless champion for Washington’s Initiative 594, which would require criminal background checks for those purchasing firearms at gun shows and online.
