Lax Gun Laws Are Becoming a National-Security Issue

Another shooting spree; another debate about American gun laws.

This time, though, it’s slightly different. Hours after Mohammod Youssuf Abdulazeez, a suspected homegrown Islamist terrorist, shot and killed four U.S. Marines at a Naval Reserve center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Donald Trump, who is now leading the polls in the Republican Presidential primary, seized upon the tragedy, claiming that the problem isn’t the proliferation of deadly firearms, but a lack of them in certain locales, such as the so-called “gun-free zones” at military sites.

According to news reports, Abdulazeez, a twenty-four-year-old Kuwaiti-born U.S. citizen, was armed with at least three guns, including an AK-47 assault rifle. How he got hold of these weapons wasn’t what concerned Trump, however. “Get rid of gun free zones,” he tweeted on Friday morning. “The four great marines who were just shot never had a chance. They were highly trained but helpless without guns.”

Trump was evidently referring to a Pentagon regulation, dating back to 1993, that prohibits some members of the military from carrying firearms while on base. His comments echoed those of gun enthusiasts, who highlighted, on social media, a picture of a sign prohibiting firearms that was on the door of the Chattanooga military-recruitment office where Abdulazeez reportedly opened fire before moving onto the Naval Reserve center, less than ten miles away.

In an America held hostage by the gun lobby, radicalized lone-wolf terrorists can get their hands on deadly weapons and mountains of ammunition just as easily as disturbed post-adolescents, delusional military subcontractors, virulent racists, and anybody else.

It would be (rightly) impolite to suggest we should fear all Muslims but the author thinks we should fear all gun owners.

And then he goes on to the cite examples of Adam Lanza, Aaron Alexis and Roof -- who were all disqualified from owning guns and/or obtained their guns illegally. Speaking of illegal acquisition --

According to officials, at least some of the weapons in Abdulazeez’s possession were obtained legally.

Which is a weasel-propagandist way to avoid admitting Abdulazeez would have still been armed regardless of the laws on the books.

Evidently, the existing system of background checks for gun purchases failed to raise any alarms in these two instances.

So, naturally, the solution is to infringe on everyone else's rights because law enforcement can't get its act together.

By the way, if law enforcement can't get its act together, who does the author think is the best means of protection for the people? I noticed the author overlooked people like Jeanne Assam.

He ignored the fact that the military police who enforce the laws on military installations are routinely armed, as are other soldiers engaged in security roles, such as guard duty.

The only armed military personnel are the MP's etc. and they are no more prolific than a small town police force. He's deliberately painting a misleading image for his readers.

The author then goes on to cite the rampages we already know. Yet, he never provides any solution except MOAR LAWZ!

The eternal question is: What laws?

Why is he not asking to shore-up the NICS and open it to private sellers? Why not better healthcare for the mentally ill? Why not funding for gun safety classes?

Because the fact is: They don't want fewer deaths, they want to take guns away from people even if it means Abdulazeez and the others still get their guns and get to enact their rampages.

Nutty SPAM® Surprise

Total Time: Makes: servings
We hate surprises, so we're going to let you know that the nutty surprise is SKIPPY® Peanut Butter. But if we were to unveil every surprise, we should've called it the Nutty, Eggy, Cinnamon-y, Nutmeg-y, Apple-y, Syrupy SPAM® Surprise.

Ingredients

2 12-ounce cans SPAM® Classic, cut into 8 slices
3 eggs
1/2 cup half-and-half
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
18 – 16 tablespoons peanut butter, to desired taste
8 slices white sandwich bread
3 apples (peeled, cored and sliced thin)
Pancake syrup, for dipping
Directions Launch Kitchen View

1Spray griddle with non-stick cooking spray and heat. Brown sliced SPAM® Classic in skillet. Set aside.
2In a bowl (large and wide enough to dip a slice of bread) whisk eggs, half-and-half, cinnamon and nutmeg together. Set aside.
3Evenly spread peanut butter to taste on one side of each bread slice (about two tablespoons on each). Place 2 pieces of SPAM® side-by-side on top of the peanut butter on 4 of the slices of bread. Place a layer of apples on the other
4 sandwich halves. Put the sandwich halves together. Dip one side slightly in the egg mixture, enough to coat just the bottom evenly. Grill until golden brown. Turn the sandwich over. Repeat the drip and grill steps until all 4 sandwiches are done. Slice and serve with syrup.

So it's OK to lie and use fear to push your agenda, as long as you know you are morally superior to anyone that opposes you.

Kind of a "the ends justify any means" philosophy.

Funny how they still can't accomplish jack or shit no matter what they do.
