Gun silencer sales are soaring

The number of registered silencers surged 38% from last year to 792,282 in February 2015, according to the most recent figures from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. There were 571,750 licenses in March 2014.

Loosening state restrictions have given the industry a boost. Silencers are now legal in 41 states, compared to 37 four years ago.

Getting approved to buy a silencer also isn't easy. Federal regulations for silencers are stricter than the background checks for most guns.

The buyer has to mail or fax a photo and fingerprints to the ATF and pay a $200 tax. Approval often takes nine months.

even with a silencer, the gun is plenty loud. It might come as a shock but reality is not like the movies.

... features that increase personal safety and ergonomics.

Guns are loud. It's inherent with firearms. But, put a muffler on it to moderate the noise? Illegal in 9 states, $200 fee, registration, and a 9-month wait otherwise.

Gun barrels get hot. It's inherent with firearms. But, put a heat shield on it to avoid burns? It turns a gun into an "assault weapon" and either illegal or tightly controlled in a bunch of states.

People are different sizes. It's inherent with people. But, put a quick-adjustable buttstock on it to accommodate different arm lengths? "Assault weapon."

Nearly-vertical grips are more ergonomic than nearly-horizontal grips. It's inherent with the design of the human hand. But put one on a long gun may turn it into an "assault weapon". And don't even THINK about putting two of them on a gun!

Can you think of any other consumer product that liberals and progressives actively fight to prohibit safely and ergonomic improvements?

Gun owners deserve every lost decibel of hearing and ache and pain and numbness in their hands simply because they're aiding and abetting a massive stain on humanity.

Gotcha.

Arguing that I'm wrong? Apparently not something you care to do.

Are you aware of just how lame the argument that reducing ergonomics will somehow save lives?

You wanna make work more ergonomic for field hands? Factory workers? Service industry employees?

Let's talk.

In fact, you actively campaign to make preventive laws on a federal and state level.

As a means to reduce the murder rate, of all things.

And then you spend years campaigning to ban the features I've mentioned. Active, prolonged, effort.

It's also well controlled here in the U.S. As they are registered, whereas even guns aren't.

Saw a story about an outfit that makes an adapter that screws onto the barrel and then threads to an auto oil filter. Cost $75 plus usual BATF tax. Seemed to work okay.
