Some of my family members were looking into the plastic paper and duct tape and buying a couple of packaged sandwiches during the terror scares of a few years ago. Now thanks to Bush the Stupid's invasion of Iraq and other major blunders we've got major terrorist attacks going off around the world. I think it's a small jump from duct tape to CC given Americans may finally be realizing that they are now extremely less safe from terrorism than they were before multiple invasions, regime changes, and constant drone killings in the ME.

I'm thinking many more people are going to start thinking that having more 'militia' type armed citizens will make them safer from ISIS.

Training and safety standards and programs are going to have to be ramped up to provide more security as opposed to more random shootings of anyone unfortunate enough to look Muslim. However, in a broad response to increased terrorism, reducing the number of soft targets is a good thing, but I have little confidence in the government supporting this well, at least over the short term.

DU has been flooded over the last couple of years with posts about police killings of unarmed citizens and performing outright crimes too. Clearly, there are not 100 percent 'good'.

Since your keyboard only seems to have the mouse button that allows you to cut and paste and no keys to write words I have to assume that you meant that since there is a case of a bad militia than all militias are bad and should be done away with. Note, my comment was about providing increased training if there is a large upsurge in civilians getting CC to avoid the pitfalls of untrained and unsafe CC.

So do you still drive a car or fly in planes? I have it on authority that cars wreck and get flats and planes crash. Living life with a 100 percent effectiveness must be downright difficult as it having a 100 percent purity test for democratic gun owners.

Agreed on potential of a modern version of the militia. The repeated anti-gunner statements about the 2nd being obsolete and based on muskets got me thinking about this aspect of the 2nd. The militia sure isn't the national guard in which the 'nation' part of it turns out to be any foreign nation stupid enough to have our oil under their ground.

A level of eyes and ears just below the police. Greatly enhanced training and credentials would have to be part of it and government support as any standards demanding more time and money would return us to rich white guys with guns protecting their own turf. Different levels of certification, but training and credentials would include communications and first responder, along with gun safety and legal issues.

My concern is that every CC that shoots a person for taking a grocery cart off of the parking lot or pulls a gun on a Sikh wearing a turban hurts gun rights and rightfully so. As with so many things, how you implement it can be the key.
