what they are saying is that another wise law abiding citizen who made a wrong turn on a bridge would face greater time than a Nike Boys soldier. There is a valid point to be said about mala prohibita crimes, like simple gun possession, of getting stiffer sentences than "real" crimes. Prime example, in New York, any violation of the SAFE Act, including having an unregistered Olympic style target pistol deemed an "assault weapon" is a higher penalty than sexual assault.
