Experts are calling ghost guns the fastest-growing gun safety problem in America. The number of ghost guns recovered from crime scenes by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), has risen by more than 1,000% since 2017.

"Pretty much anyone can get these ghost guns and order parts and make a gun that's just as well as the guns we carry," ATF officer Jerome McClinton told the BBC.

a firearm has been around for quite some time.

All it takes is a drill, drill bits, hacksaw, file, an angle and bench grinders, hammer, square, a taper cutter, countersink, vise and some tubing, sheet metal and hardware (and not even all of those). All of this is available from your local hardware store.

The plans are readily available to bend, fold and beat all of this into a fully functional firearm over a matter of a couple of hours. Unless of course you want to shift over to the book banning darkside.

Personally, I think that the definition of a "firearm" should be revisited but that opens the door to ham handedness that will create more confusion than settle the issue.

Just like murder is illegal. Solve the murder problem, I bet the ghost gun problem pretty much goes away, too.
