If you want to self-delete it, I'll gladly unlock it.

Question: do you lose the ability to self-delete a locked thread? I honestly don't know.

7. Okay, it's unlocked.

Feel free to self-delete.

Thanks for the info. I think I only had a couple of LBN threads locked, and I never bothered to check if I can self-delete after locking.

2. As long as the regulars don't object to my hosting

And as long as I have the time and interest in doing so.

If any of the 3 conditions fail, I would resign after the Group picks a new Host.

Taverner is welcome to discuss the case here if he wants; s/he hasn't opted to bring his locked discussion here.

S/he can copy the original OP word-for-word for all I care.

I think we, as a group, might deserve a little input on some of this. We should be able to discuss stuff like that in here. I would like to hear from some other people about this type of thing .... is that OK with you?

9. Do you mean discussing locking threads?

Or discussing gun threads that are occurring outside the Gungeon?

and yes, if we see something posted elsewhere on DU inre: Guns or 2A why can we not bring here for discussion?

I would like to know what other members of this group think about it.

Also, what they think about you peremptorily locking threads without other members discussing it.

You are the host and we are guests.

I want to be a good guest and would like to be treated as such by the Host.

...with getting consensus. It involves starting a thread to discussing locking another thread, and then depending on random people to give non-binding input.

Trying to decided on a host for the group took a couple of weeks, if I recall correctly.

Regarding bring in posts from other parts of DU, I feel that if you wanted to reiterate a 2nd-Amendment/gun law/armed self-defense-related fact or opinion that you read elsewhere and bring it in for discussion, then that's fine. This is especially important when dissecting complicated issues, like the Florida shooting.

Your post was a "hey-lookit-this" sort of post, which by itself doesn't belong in the Gungeon, IMO.

I've locked threads on my own initiative before, and I've locked threads after an alert as well. In a few cases of each type, I've gotten a complaint about my lock, and a couple of times I've reversed myself after discussing the issue via PM with the OPer.

I don't advertise whether or not it was alerted on, so nobody really knows which ones have been locked after a complaint and which have been locked on my own initiative.

I also get alerts on threads that I do not act on. This month, I've declined an appeal to unlock a thread, supported another appeal to unlocked a thread, and declined to act on 3 alerts on 3 threads.

I'm off to bed now. I hope others will chime in on this issue.

12. My intent was to cross post the thread so that everyone could have a chance to address the topic

be it Here or There. Just trying to keep the lines of communication open is all.

As for group discussions...those threads should take as long as they take...look what happened with Feminist Group.

I think we all would prefer to stay within the group rather than going to meta...right?

I am also off to bed...to sleep per chance to dream.

Thoughts and comments, anyone?
