Might as well post it here because it will just get canned anywhere other than the Gungeon...

(12,882 posts)The "terrists" are waging war on the US - IN the US - on a daily basis. And yet, we have to field armies to foreign soil to try to find some of the baddies.
Free guns would level the playing field here - but what we really need is federal laws requiring us to carry. That way it wouldn't be taxpayer money that would provide the arms! We'd be forced to buy from US gun makers so's to create jobs locally.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, if we required everyone to pack a US-made gun, this would eventually take care of the joblessness. As production rose to meet the demand - and murders (stand your ground incidents if you prefer) eliminated more and more of our populace - there'd be a meeting point of declining demand for jobs and increased employment. A sort of "balancing out", if you will! Mitt! Oh MITT!!!! I have a theme for you to win with - or at least one that'll get your party in line behind you.

(763 posts)F-16s?!?
AtheistCrusader
(33,982 posts)Flown in US airspace.
MiG-15's, MiG-21's, MiG-29M, all sorts of rotorwing aircraft, F-100's, Harriers, F-4b, F-86's, T-33's.. Let's see, there's a civilian MiG-23UB.
It's not that you aren't allowed to purchase them, more that no one will sell you one. That's why most of the civilian military-surplus aircraft in the US are from Russia, as they ARE for sale, even with radar and other military bits and bobs intact, and aside from cash up front, the only hurdle is the US FAA and import license. The FAA has to rate the aircraft as being airworthy at all, which means it needs to meet certain criteria for transponder, radio, etc.
You won't get a surplus F-16, because the US Military isn't selling them at any price. Nor is the manufacturer. Now, you might be able to buy an 'export' version of the F-16, if any nation that ever purchased any F-16A/B's are willing to sell one. Bringing it back into the US would probably be slightly easier than a MiG, but you'll still have to get FAA buyoff, because military aircraft don't meet various FAA requirements anyway.
This is a civvy F-100 taking off.

(12,072 posts)Notice that the speed brake is deployed. You don't do that on take-off.
AtheistCrusader
(33,982 posts)That was the caption as posted by the person who claimed to have taken the photo. I hesitate to alter it, even though the landing gear isn't deployed.
GreenStormCloud
(12,072 posts)It may have been a take-off. It was almost certainly at an air show. For the crowd to see him well he may have wanted to keep his speed down as he roared down the runway after getting his gear up, therefore the speed brake out. That would convert the take-off to a low altitude fly-by.

(6,185 posts)It's always the gun control people claiming that guns should be available on every corner for everybody, background checks are useless (after they demanded all this in the first place).
Then we get the "bazookas and nukes for everybody" crap from them too. This strip is typical of gun grabber "logic".
Make insane statements, that bear no resemblance to reality, then infer or outright claim it's the gun owners that are crazy.
The good news is nobody but a shrinking handful of "true believer zealots" are even listening to them anymore.
Also still waiting for somebody to point out an actual candidate running for a national, or even a state office, with gun control as a major part of their 2012 platform.
Anybody? Anywhere? Let's hear about them. I'm sure some of our gun control fans here can point with pride to the campaigns they are working with and have donated to, that support stricter gun control measures. Come on, Maine, Florida, Georgia, Texas all hotbeds of the gun control movement, right?
I mean, if it's such a winner and "everybody supports it" (as we've been oft reassured) it should be a major part of every honest Dem candidate's platform, right? Or is this another one where we'll hear all about how the evil "Elders of the NRA" in a conspiracy with ALEC and the the Knights of Malta are outspending the morally pure gun control candidates to silence them?
Funny how the NRA magically keeps anyone from donating to the Brady bunch, ain't it?

(5,436 posts)I don't think I'm funny at all, but your teabagger spelling errors make me laugh.

(15,374 posts)There are apparently a LOT of "teabaggers" on DU then, as I see similar typo's by serious liberals here all the time.
You are not serious. You're not even amusing.
Take your accusations, write them on a piece of paper, fold them into sharp cornors, and return them to the bodily orifice you pulled them from, at a high velocity.

You have just confirmed my suspicions about what you really are.

(12,072 posts)In states with SYG laws the number for justifialbe homicides are up. All other shootings are down.
AtheistCrusader
(33,982 posts)that at least some of those shootings that fall under SYG were previously classified in such a manner as to put the shooter in legal jeopardy, when it was not warranted.
