MILWAUKEE -
A 75-year-old Milwaukee man accused of shooting his 13-year-old neighbor appeared in court Saturday morning. John Spooner was charged late Friday afternoon with first-degree intentional homicide.
<...>
The criminal complaint said Spooner admitted to police during his arrest that he shot Darius Simmons.
Charging documents detailed what witnesses say they saw the day of the shooting. The victim's mother, Patricia Larry, told police her son was retrieving the family's trash cans from in front of their house when Spooner approached him, saying he "wanted his stuff back" and that he "wanted his shotguns back." Spooner accused Simmons of stealing from his home. Larry said she then witnessed Spooner shoot her son in the chest.
<...>
" Spooner) was telling me about the recent burglary that he had. They stole $3,000 worth of guns. I know John to have been a member, or is a member, of the National Rifle Association," Donovan said.

"Stand Your Get Out Of My Yard", allowing NRA members above a certain age to legally murder people they hate. It's a crazy idea!

(5,436 posts)You gun-religionists are completely nuts. An obvious satire by me is labeled "nonsensicle" (WTF does that mean?)
Gun-religionists are entertaining dolts!

(17,502 posts)Steven Colbert, you are not.

(5,436 posts)Didn't claim to be Steven Colbert, but the "nonsensicle" gun-religionist was off his rocker. A satire doesn't have to be Colbert-worthy to be obvious as a satire.
I forgot that if anyone posts anything to the left of "guns are HOLY!" they get attacked by multiple gun-religionists.

See you anti-gun zealots (I don't even have to make up a new term to describe your type) aren't even entertaining. Well some of you are but the bong section, not even close.

(10,618 posts)In fact, EVERYBODY should be packing heat so that things like this wouldn't happen.
(In case someone fails to notice the intended I'll make it explicit)

(60,567 posts)It's very common for people with Alzheimer's disease, and in other forms of dementia, to suffer from paranoid ideation.
Obviously the proper action to take if one suspects a particular individual of theft is to give the information to a law enforcement agency.

(60,567 posts)Even with the scant information we have, his actions are clearly not those of a person who was in full possession of his mental faculties. A person doesn't survive for 75 years as a free individual if he doesn't know that what he did was obviously inappropriate.
I haven't seen any information to suggest that the man has a criminal record, so it's unlikely that he's a psychopath.
He stated that he has had gun stolen from him. That may or may not be true, but accusing the neighbor boy of stealing them smacks of paranoia which is typical of Alzheimer's dementia. (Also other forms of dementia, such as that resulting from an organic brain disorder or alcoholism.)

(15,333 posts)If you'd bothered to read a little deeper, it's obvious the shooter had some form of dementia, which is not the same thing at all. As long as we're diagnosing people we don't know and have never met, how's about another loaded term?:
