Concealed weapons permits for Florida non-residents

30 some states honor Florida permits issued to non-residents of that state.

For active duty or those veterans who did not get a dishonorable discharge, Florida accepts a copy of your military I.D or DD-214 as satisfying its training requirement.

Here are the requirements to get a permit in Florida:

"1. You must be 21 to get a conceled carry permit.
2. Have a passport-style, color photograph made.
3. Get verification of training that satisfies the training requirement. NRA, DD-14, state training course, etc. . Persons serving in the United States Armed Forces may submit a copy of their Military ID Card to satisfy the training requirement.
4. Get certified copies of court documents relating to any criminal charges against you.
5. Take the fingerprint card to a local law enforcement agency and ask to be fingerprinted. In addition to providing fingerprinting services for the traditional “hard-card” format, electronic fingerprint devices are available at almost all 67 county sheriff’s offices in the state. Michigan doesn't honor such a permit but if it did and I was very much interested in getting one, which I'm not, this could be a possibility. Being a vet, my DD-214 would satisfy the Florida training requirement. The closest class around where I live that I've found is almost 100 miles away and it's being held just once this year. There are other classes down in Wisconsin that my state accepts but they are 150 to 200 miles away. I had said in an other post it'd be less of a hassle for me to get a Michigan permit but that's before i found out how far away the classes were. But this is all a mute point for me as my state doesn't honor those permits and I have no interest in getting one but this info might be of interest to others.

The above quote isn't accurate as one cannot apply for a permit online from the state of Florida. One can request an application form and finger print card on line.
