Reported firearm thefts in Houston

At least 32,000 guns have been stolen from Houston-area homes, cars, pawn shops and even gun dealers over the last nearly eight years, with only seven percent of them ever recovered, a Houston Chronicle analysis shows. In a state where guns are as plentiful and popular as pickup trucks, the stolen weapons further fuel violent crime across the region.

Obviously, regulations on gun purchases is not enough to stop criminals from obtaining firearms. SecularMotion Sep 2012 #2

What then would further restrictions on gun purchases do to prevent such violence?

Legal gun owners need to take responsibility for safe and secure storage of their weapons or face penalties.

I mean you really didn't have a choice since you accidentally proved that one of your sides favorite talking points isn't true.

They should be penalized for being the victims of crimes?

Their first step is to make gun storage laws so draconian as to render self defense with a gun a moot point. Then they will move onto other laws. They will never stop...

at some gun club. You cannot keep them at home.

If you wanted one for self defense you'd need to put your home-invader on hold, walk or drive to your nearest club, request a log-out for your gun, wait for them to verify your identity then return home to use it in defense (and immediately report yourself to the police afterwards for taking your gun off the range-grounds).

It's not a ban though. You can still have a gun. You just have to follow a few common sense gun control laws.

/and should they decide to get rid of even those few freedoms it would be so easy to round up every single legally owned gun in the country.

Another simple example:

Bad people steal guns from good people and do bad things to good people with the guns they stole.

Anti-social behavior = theft, burglary, etc.
Violent anti-social behavior = Unjustified, violent attacks against others.

Ban all thieves and murderers!

you'd find that it is not a dupe of the article. I posted a related article myself earlier.

The link in the OP is the database of stolen weapons, listing the type of guns and from where they were taken. I found it interesting that so many guns are stolen from vehicles.
