(20,584 posts)that said the rifle was in the car and only the handguns were used. As it turned out, it was the rifle that was used. And as I heard on TV, children with multiple gun shot wounds.
It would make a difference in any discussion about banning assault rifles.

(35,348 posts)with a rifle. You change channels and they say he used the pistols and the rifle was found in his car. Yesterday it was reported they found his brother dead in NJ. Today they say they interviewed him and he didn't appear to be involved with the shootings. Yesterday his mother was a teacher in the school and now she wasn't, I think. One story says his mother was a gun nut and her friends had no idea she even owned guns.

(17,502 posts)that is why I try not to say much when the "was it justifiable or not" posts come up. Assuming what the article says is accurate, the important details are missing and not known.
In this case, I don't think the means are as important as why. As for why she owned the guns, or if her friends knew, I don't care.

(3,333 posts)He said all of the children had been shot with the .223 Bushmaster.
Since he or one of his staff looked at each and every bullet used to mow down babies, I think he might know what he's talking about.

(15,374 posts)At close range, on children, a handgun will be just as deadly, possibly more so, depending on ammunition and other circumstances.
Too many unkown variables at this point.

(10,017 posts)you mean like medical examination of the bodies? Is that one of the unknowns? Is your jury still out?
