20 questions for the National Rifle Association -- one for each of the schoolchildren massacred

1. Why, more than 24 hours after the horrific shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, had no NRA official uttered a single word of sympathy for the victims?

2. Why, over the same period, did your Twitter feed go silent?

3. Why, whenever the United States suffers yet another mass murder by a lone gunman bristling with semi-automatic weapons, do your supporters insist that "this is not the time" to debate this nation's NRA-fueled obsession with firearms?

4. If this isn't the time to talk about gun control, when is?

5. A recent "Gun of the Week" in the NRA publication American Rifleman was the DRD Paratus-16, described as "a quick break down semi-automatic rifle (that) can be assembled in less than a minute without the use of tools." Why is assembly time so important?

would the lynch mob accept it as sincere or would they dismiss and distort what they said? Just asking.

1. Why, more than 24 hours after the horrific shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, had no NRA official uttered a single word of sympathy for the victims?
ask them

2. Why, over the same period, did your Twitter feed go silent?
ask them

3. Why, whenever the United States suffers yet another mass murder by a lone gunman bristling with semi-automatic weapons, do your supporters insist that "this is not the time" to debate this nation's NRA-fueled obsession with firearms?
knee jerk reactions don't lead to good legislation.

4. If this isn't the time to talk about gun control, when is?
when reasonable people on both sides have a seat at the table and equal say. Something the bat shit crazies on either side want. I seriously don't think you want that either.

5. A recent "Gun of the Week" in the NRA publication American Rifleman was the DRD Paratus-16, described as "a quick break down semi-automatic rifle (that) can be assembled in less than a minute without the use of tools." Why is assembly time so important?
I haven't read the article. Since I'm not an NRA member, I doubt I'll get a chance to. The issue was published and printed before the murders.

...but it's nonsense to characterize legislation as knee jerk without seeing or knowing what the legislation is.

Where child labor laws enacted after fire in sweat shops killed hundreds 'knee jerk'?

How many weather disasters have to happen before an environmental law can be enacted without being characterized as 'knee jerk?'

Was it 'knee jerk' to declare war after the Pearl Harbor attack.

Sure, bad laws can be enacted with knee jerk reaction, but let's wait for the laws to be introduced.

Accepting the status quo is not acceptable.

if the reasonable people on one side points out flaws in said law, the know nothing bat shit crazies on the other will shout them down and accused them of being extremists. We have seen it before.

4-When reasonable people from both sides have a seat at the table and equal say on what should be changed.

7-Other than the commerce clause, because you are talking about intra state private sales. FFLs have to follow the same laws. Since non FFLs have no access to NICS, either change the federal law to allow it or encourage states to have "clean bill of health" certificates for private sales like MI. If you want to buy the gun from me, either show me a CCW or get the purchase certificate from the cops.

8-part not very gun savvy mall ninjas from their money. If that was the only gun Holmes had, the carnage would not be as bad. It jammed early. There is a reason the cops and military don't use them.

9.2 pounds....holy hell that thing is heavy. Of course it is a 308...

My 308 kicks like hell for some crazy reason, it also has a 20 oz trigger and is a single shot.

It looks like they've designed it more for the military/contractor market. That's one nice case it comes in.

Same type we use for our commo equipment. Very nice, very expensive, and heavy. Even the smaller ones like that have an extending handle and wheels.

1. Because their opponents would rip them a new one for "politicizing" the incident.

2. See 1.

3. I thought they didn't say anything... Oh, and because emotional knee-jerk reactions are always superior to thought-out and well-flushed ideas. That's why the PATRIOT Act is such a wonderful piece of legislation...

4. After a long, well-thought-out debate.

5. Ask the manufacturer.
