PROVIDENCE, R.I.

The founder of a U.S. Navy contractor from Georgia will serve three years in prison for his part in a kickback scheme that cost the Navy $18 million.

Anjan Dutta-Gupta, of Roswell, Ga., was sentenced Wednesday in federal court in Rhode Island.

He founded Advanced Solutions for Tomorrow, which had offices in Middletown, R.I.

Dutta-Gupta is one of six people convicted in the scheme, pleading guilty to bribery in 2011. Prosecutors say he cooperated with their investigation into others, including civilian Navy employee Ralph Mariano, the scheme's mastermind. Mariano started a 10-year prison term last week.
