Over the past 50 years, the charming Spanish colonial revival building in Fort Bragg's historic Normandy Heights neighborhood has hosted holiday celebrations, promotion ceremonies, wedding receptions and public brunches.

But as Fort Bragg prepares to open its $17.5million conference and catering center, the future of the picturesque Fort Bragg Club is uncertain.

A final decision has not been made, said Ben Abel, a Fort Bragg spokesman.

"We're still kicking around ideas," he said.

Plenty of TDY there though. My unit was a hot shot logistics deployment unit, but non- deployable outside the US........if that makes any sense. We were tried and true REMFs.

Since they had no 31E40 (Field Radio Repair) slots available, I ended up running electronics repair for the Basic Training Center.

Not getting shot/mortared/RPGed at was a big bonus.
