it was odd. I signed that petition when it was first put up. They had abt 600 sigs when I signed. Yesterday morning I logged in and watched the sigs go from about 1,300 in the AM to over 10,000 in the PM. Then to get that message was wierd.

There are over 14,000 signatures now. Let's keep the momentum going!

It seems as if his bilious verbal spew was the unwanted background din for all twenty years of my career. Probably not that long, yet I'm hard pressed to think of a time he wasn't broadcasting on AFRTS/AFN.

Meeting the 25k threshhold means the WH must provide an official response to the petition (probably within a few days, now).

Meanwhile, the petition to KEEP Rush on AFN has 1,436 sigs!1!!

What do we do when the right starts similar petitions to remove Ed Schultz who comes on AFN right after Limpbaugh? Schultz has called women sluts and whores and thats pretty hateful also? How about instead of acting just like radical right christian/taliban fundies we just change the channel and refuse to buy from advertisers? isnt that the American way? Not to censor and make the slob a hero, but to shun and not give him the free publicity?

Schultz was suspended, and he apologized. Limbaugh has been serving up a continuous stream of misogyny (among other vile things) for years.

And his so-called 'apology' was anything but, as it repeated the same vile slurs and falsehoods about Fluke's testimony for which he should have been apologizing.

Limbaugh is not being "censored." He's not being imprisoned by the government nor prevented by authorities from expressing his views. But the government has no obligation to provide him a public platform for his show via DoD's American Forces Network.

If DoD drops him from AFN, He'll likely be replaced by another conservative talk show host--and he'll still be free to have a show and to express his views to whatever audience wishes to hear him.
