Did any of you every make a MARS phone call home while you were in Vietnam?
Even more specifically, did you use the MARS station in Cu Chi in 1970? We also had a setup that we could chopper out to firebases in surrounding area.

(2,670 posts)I was Ground Radio in the AF in '71 and we had that same Collins KWM2A set-up in a radio shack on the military side of Athens airport. We ran calls home all the time. I was in Athens TDY from Turkey, where MARS and all amateur radio was banned. Getting our hands on that equipment in Greece was like liberation.
