The fatal shooting of an Oceanside man by Los Angeles police officers on live television is now the subject of a $20 million civil rights lawsuit.
The federal suit, filed Thursday in federal court in Los Angeles, follows up a $20 million claim that the parents of Brian Beaird filed against the city in December.
Beaird was shot Dec. 13 after driving wrecklessly and refusing to pull his Corvette over for police. The ongoing chase soon made it on the airwaves in L.A.

The family said Beaird was disabled and paranoid of police. The National Guard veteran was discharged due to a potential brain tumor. None was found during a surgery, but his family said he never acted the same after that and was put on disability.
